Revlon Vs. Mac

Many people when putting on makeup focus on making the lips the main focus. While, others focus on eyes, cheekbones etc. It differs from one person to another and what feature they would like to highlight. But, usually for day-to-day makeup natural pink/peach colored lips are preferred. Here are a few of our current favorite lipsticks from Mac and Revlon. We have noticed similar quality in all the lip products from these two brands and have decided to show and talk about the products tried from both Revlon and Mac.

Mac

From MAC, we have chosen three lipsticks which are quite similar to one another (However, with some differences)

Pink Nouveau

It is the brightest 'pink' from all the three and can be best described as 'barbie pink'.. It can look too bright at times and that is why applying it modestly will be great. It will add a slight burst of color to your lips and will make your lips look beautiful.

Pink Plaid

This is a more nude/ pink in which it might be perfect for when you have on a smokey eye and want the focus on the eyes. Personally, I usually find that it can look dull and make someone look 'sick' and therefore I always add a bright lipgloss on top to even out.

Chatterbox

Chatterbox is my favorite mac lipstick. It is right shade of pink for almost everyone. It's not bright and it's not dull, it can be used for day-to-day makeup and can be glammed up as well. It has a beautiful glossy finish and is highly recommended.

Mac is also famous for their lipglass. One of my favorites is Viva Glam 6 Lipglass. The glittery shininess of the glass has just the right amount of shine and glitter that it does not look too over done and too unwearable. The color is also more of a maroonish pink and is very beautiful on the lips.

Revlon

Revlon is also a great brand for lipstick and lip-glosses. Their prices are much more affordable than mac and of the (somewhat) same high quality.

Revlon Colorburst in Peach 075 is a perfect peach/nude color that gives your lips enough moisture and color in order for it to look natural and not at all overdone. The color is perfect for those who are not daring enough to put on a beige nude lip (or those who would like 'some' color).

Revlon colorburst in Fuchia is also a favorite of mine. However, this lipstick is not as natural as the peach shade. Personally, I put on this lipstick when I need a burst of color and when switching my makeup look to a night look. It's bright but not too bright and the color is so rich and glamorous that you are definitely bound to get compliments on it.

A favorite lipgloss of mine is Revlon's colorbust in Hot pink. It's so rich in color that it can be worn alone quite confidently and would not look so sheer and naked like other lip-glosses. The color is complimentary to almost all skin tones and is the perfect lipgloss to add on any lipstick to 'brighten' it up!

Which is better?

We have noticed that Mac lip products are often drying to the lips and can (sometimes) cause chapped lips. However, Mac lipstick are more long lasting then Revlon lipstick and there are a wider range to chose from. But, Revlon has two positive features to their products. Firstly, their lipsticks and lip-glosses are very moisturizing and nourishing to the lips. Secondly, Revlon prices are much lower than Mac whom are considered more higher end.
